Fiberglass Pony Rod

Printer Friendly Page

This fiberglass rod 36" long 5/8" diameter with a lifetime rod guide attached to the top most part can add years to the life of a well cylinder and Perma-cups, ordinary leathers. The rod guide travels in the well pipe just above the cylinder and never permits the uneven wearing of the Perma-cups to leathers. The plunger valve is guided to prevent flopping. One of the greatest improvements ever to be made at the bottom of any sucker rod well, shallow or deep. Extra benefit is the elimination of electrolysis that occurs between iron rod coupling and the brass of the plunger valve. The pony rod of Virden's high tensile, high strength fiberglass solid rod is a complete insulator in the application, a pony rod should be in every sucker rod well.

Fiberglass pony rods for 2", 2-1/2", and 3" pipe. Available for 1-1/4" pipe with 7/8" fitting.

Urethane Rod Guide Encapsulated Metal Couplings

All Joints are 20' long • 5/8" rod for 2" pipe • 3/4" rod for 2-1/2" and 3" pipe • These sucker rods come with Virden's urethane rod guide encapsulated metal couplings. VIRDEN'S URETHANE couplings act as rod guides also!! With a Virden guide in the middle of your sucker rod, you are maintenance free.

We definitely recommend our wooden rod guides to be used on wooden rods, placed every 10 feet to insure long life of the sucker rod, as well as the pipe. When PVC windmill column pipe is being used, our rod guides are a must, as the PVC pipe then will not wear!
